The Association Executive

Our Leadership Team

AIM For Europe is pleased to present its serving executive group

“I joined ALDE individuals more than a decade ago and have participated at events since a meeting in Düsseldorf in 2016. In my youth I was International Officer of a youth party of an ALDE member, and I was active in LYMEC too – my first ALDE Congress was in 2001!

I was chair of the last Steering Committee 2022-2023 in the old structure. I am a strong believer in the open Meet the Board meetings and the power of having pan-European online meetings, and even facebook discussions.

Actually speaking with each other across Europe is a great experience. I am honoured to enter your living rooms, but I still hope to meet many of you at ALDE congresses as well!

Proud ALDE supporter due to unwavering support for Ukraine and for striving to deepen the Single Market rather than weaken it.

Proud dad of 2 daughters, proud EU Citizen, dr in physics, chief adviser at the Danish Gambling Authority.”

Dr Anders Basbøll

Chair

“I was born in 1976 in Croatia, when ALDE and the Stuttgart Declaration was created. I have been a member of ALDE since 2021, the year I was appointed country coordinator for Croatia until 2023.

I am one of the founders of the new organization AIM for Europe ALDE Supporters, and I was appointed Vice-Chair of the board in 2024.

I have a Master’s degree in Criminology. Master of Science in the field of ‘International Relations and National Security’. I’ve been a civil servant for over 20 years. I am a proud father of three children.

It’s my honor and pleasure to be a part of this board. I enjoy promoting the founding principles of ALDE: Freedom, Liberty, Solidarity, Progress and Individuality.”

Negoslav Eškina

Vice-Chair

“I am a proud EU-Citizen living in the UK with a German Passport, I am a Liberal and a Democrat, an Art Historian with a passion for constitutional history, a Mum of two true Europeans, and a civil rights’ and Pro EU activist.

I am truly passionate about the European Union, our “country” and my home.”

Dr Wiebke Rueterjans

AIM for Europe Board Member
Working Group Coordinator covering LIBE & FEMM

“I joined the ALDE/AIM as member in 2016 as consequence and responds to the Brexit situation, which gave me the realization that we need to fight for our EU.

I have also served as ALDE/AIM country coordinator for Denmark. I am also member of one of the ALDE member parties in Denmark where I am elected treasure of the local party organization, plus member of the party’s international committee. I do endorse very much a social liberalism approach from a community point of view.

From professional careers point of view, I hold a B.SC in Electrical engineering and I have lived, worked, and paid tax in ten countries so far.”

René Birger Pedersen

Treasurer

“I joined Alde/AIM in 2018 as a member of the French team. With three colleagues he prepared a proposal for submission to Alde on a balanced migration policy, including recruitment and Selection sites in the countries of origin.

I have seven children and twelve grandchildren. My specialty is cross cultural understanding which I taught to the imams of France and the future diplomats of China, among others. I have published six books, five on Cross Cultural Management in English and one on 19th century France in French. I have worked in some sixty different countries.”
